The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I am kind of nervous of doing this; poetry isn't my strong suit and I haven't written one in easily 15 years that wasn't a five minute thing to make someone giggle. That said, your words took my breath away and I wanted to write you something in return. I hope you like it.





Polaris





Unknowingly, I watched you grow from boy to man,

Your trenchant wit effortlessly slicing night after night

Through swaddling layers of pain that had all but stopped my breath.

I would curl up against my couch, hugging my knees as I watched you write

The shrouding darkness fearfully shrinking back from those shining words

That took me lovingly by the hand and lifted me up into the light.

You, for whom time will bend willingly, making short years into a lifetime of love

Have lifted me ever higher, placing clouds at my feet that I might touch the stars.

You tease the laughter from my soul in shining strands

Twisting it into garlands to lay about my head and neck.

When I am wrong you tell me, as readily as when I am right.

Your brightly burning love does not blind your reason and, truth be told,

My favourite times are when you patiently point out those flaws.

You are my true north, gently guiding me through dangerous waters

And trusting in you I know I will find my way home.

That means so much coming from you Jo:) You don't have to feel like a voyeur; if I were to write a poem about you, it would be with the same depth of feeling. Maybe I will try and write some more in the future:)
